Spring into the New Year!
Can you believe the New Year is less than 2 weeks away? Although winter is just getting started here, my photographer brain is already planning ahead for spring sessions! Maybe I’m just feeling inspired by one of my favorite photoshoots from 2019. Featuring the Chandra-Lee family, who’s been with me since the beginning of Jessica Neumann Photography. Honestly, these portraits remind me why I started this small business in the first place.
The Chandra-Lees started out as Baby Planners, which means they participated in my first-year program for parents. This package essentially includes everything from newborn photography to their Cake Smash/Bubble Bath shoot in honor of their first birthday! Of course, we do some sessions in between, so you can really see how much your baby changes within that one year. This family enjoyed the experience so much that they asked me to take their annual family portraits. Then, they repeated the Baby Planner process with their second child!
For this particular session, we decided to do something closer to home for the Chandra-Lees. Since they’re from Chevy Chase, Maryland, we wandered over to see the Kenwood Cherry Blossoms this past April. Fortunately, the day of the photoshoot was bright and sunny—which meant a lot of other locals had the same idea. It was actually pretty crowded, but we managed to find a few special spots to escape to, where we could still enjoy the beautiful scenery and trees without accidentally including other people in their perfect family portrait.
Mom always does an amazing job styling the entire family, but she really outdid herself here. Between the color palette, the coats, and those adorable red shoes—I honestly couldn’t have designed anything better! Although the colors were amazing, we decided to do a few black-and-white variations to really focus on the girls’ expressions and lighting. My job doesn’t end after the photoshoot!
