Princess Perfection in Maryland

Every princess deserves a little magic, even in unexpected places.  When I met with the Mason sisters in a sunlit field, away from Maryland’s many cities and towns, I was hoping for something magical.  Between the setting, the sisters, and their princess style, I wasn’t disappointed!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with the entire Mason family a few times before.  At last count, they were up to six members, but a seventh should be joining them any day now as they eagerly anticipate a new baby.  With such a large family, the parents wanted to treat two of their princesses to a day of pampering and fun.  When they contacted me about their idea, I immediately jumped at the chance to direct a special photoshoot featuring these wonderful girls.

To prepare for the big day, the sisters had custom fittings for the handmade princess dresses you see here.  There was a lot of pink, a lot of tulle, and these amazing flower crowns to complete the look.  Both girls even had their hair and makeup done on the day of the shoot, as an extra touch.  By the time we reached the location, they were positively brimming with excitement!

I chose this particular field for the natural lighting and foliage I thought would highlight their glamorous styling.  What I didn’t anticipate, though, was the sheer number of grasshoppers we would find there.  Seriously, they were everywhere!  Jumping through the frames and into the girls’ tulle.  Fortunately, these princesses also happen to be troopers.  So, they had fun with their surroundings and put up with me picking grasshoppers out of their dresses throughout the day.  At least the weather was gorgeous!  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fall day in Maryland.

Seeing how happy the sisters were throughout this process made it all worthwhile.  We even had a great reveal day at the JNP Studio, so the entire family could see the beautiful portraits from this princess session.  If you’re looking for a one-of-kind experience for the princess in your life, please contact Jessica Neumann Photography!
