Support Local & Shine On

When local businesses come together to support one another, something incredible happens.  In downtown New Market, there are a number of small, locally-owned businesses that create this fantastic atmosphere.  Although I can’t pick a favorite, the new Fit2Shine Studio has definitely been a great addition to our town!  So, when I had an opportunity to work with its’ co-owner (and fellow female entrepreneur) Kelly Jarvis last spring, I jumped at the chance.

She was in the middle of million different things—between opening the studio, building a wonderful team, launching the website, and more—but she knew she needed updated headshots.  Fortunately, our schedules happened to coordinate one day last May.  Since we were both already downtown, we were able to arrange a last-minute headshot session.

I always love photographing headshots!  It’s such creative experience that allows me to really play with lighting and personality, while also helping my clients find their natural selves in front of the camera.  In this case, Kelly needed little encouragement from me.  She came ready to shine, dressed in this bright, beautiful color that immediately invoked spring.

The weather was hot and cloudy—think Maryland summers—but the rain held off just long enough for us to capture some great photos.  With the muted lighting, Kelly was really able to shine!  Her son may have helped with that, though.  Especially since he kept us entertained throughout the entire photoshoot, inspiring bursts of laughter that perfectly showcased his mother’s smile.

I can’t think of anything that represents the support local movement more than two small business owners collaborating creatively in the town they love.  Thanks for trusting me with your headshots and opening the Fit2Shine Studio in what’s basically my backyard.  If you haven’t been there yet, make sure you stop by soon!  Don’t forget to contact Jessica Neumann Photography for your updated headshots and other photography needs.
