Catching Up with Friends Old & Newborn

When one of your oldest friends has a baby, how do you find time to catch up? Recently, I had the rare privilege of mixing my personal and professional lives thanks to this handsome guy! On top of photographing newborn Camden, I also got to share the joy of this perfect baby with parents Carly and Conor.

Although it’s hard to believe, this particular new mom was actually my babysitter for many years! We spent a lot of time during the studio session talking, laughing, and gushing over Camden. My special connection with this family led to some amazing shots. Including a number of portraits featuring the parents, as well as newborn Camden. I hope they’ll cherish these captured moments for years to come!

Camden may have been the newest addition to this family, but he settled into poses like a pro in the JNP Studio. When I met him, he was only 8 days old, approximately 20 ½” long and weighing a whopping 7 lbs. 15 oz. He seemed completely at easeβ€”not to mention sleepyβ€”as we gently moved him into different positions.

One of my favorite parts of the day was discovering his perfect little dimple! It made a rare appearance here and there, so my mission became bringing it out again. I couldn’t resist playing with his hair, either. Not every newborn has this much hair or an adorable curlicue on top like Camden. I simply had to emphasize these distinctive features during his newborn photography session.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful day! It can be difficult to maintain balance between work, family, friendship, and all the other parts of your life when you have a newborn. Fortunately, these photography sessions allow you to freeze timeβ€”if only for a dayβ€”and then preserve these moments for the future.
