Stronger than Your Average Newborn

Believe it or not, Jaxon was only 13 days old when he first came to the JNP Studio!  The Baker family was looking for a newborn photographer close to their Frederick home and, luckily, they chose me.  I was happy to welcome the trio this past August for what turned out to be an extraordinary experience.

One of the first things I noticed about baby Jaxon was how incredibly strong he was!  Not just in his movements, but also in his features.  Although he was still newborn sizedβ€”at only 8lbs 3 ozβ€”he just seemed older.  Jaxon was awake for most of the session and curiously alert.  It was like he didn’t want to miss a single second of his very first photoshoot.

As a newborn photographer, I always try to convince parents to bring their babies out within the first 7 to 14 days.  Although I know how nerve-racking it can be to bring your new son or daughter out into the elements so soon.  I’ve also seen firsthand how many changes newborns experience in such a short period of time!  Few families notice the transformation that’s happening right in front of themβ€”until Reveal Day when they get to see the photos from our newborn session.

While we played with a lot of different swaddles and texturesβ€”all sourced from the JNP Studioβ€”the Baker family also brought an adorable fox outfit and infant-sized Redskins gear.  Honestly, Jaxon seemed to prefer wearing as little as possible, so his arms and legs could move around in excitement.  I was only too happy to let him take the lead when it came to wardrobe, so I could focus on capturing as many moments as possible.  Even the occasional grumpy ones.

Jaxon may have been the star of this studio session, but I made sure to include Mom and Dad in a number of portraits.  The honest interaction between these new parents and their baby may have been some of my favorite images from the day.  If you’re looking for newborn photography in DC or Maryland, please contact me!  I create a luxury experience for you and your family.  Complete with authentic photographs we can turn into family heirlooms.  Learn more about my process here.
